Rules, duration, King's Castle, four turrets, marches, occupation, KvK and battle flow

Castle Battle is the fight for the King's Castle, the central political and military structure of a Kingshot kingdom.
There are two core versions of the fight:
- Standard Castle Battle, fought inside one kingdom between its alliances.
- Kingdom of Power Castle Battle, the cross-kingdom version fought during KvK.
The battlefield is built around one King's Castle in the center and four surrounding turrets. The Alert Zone, the Ruin area, march timing, occupation clocks and healing rules all matter.
Castle Battle at a Glance
| Rule | Current mechanic |
| Main objective | Control the King's Castle |
| Maximum Castle battle time | 5 hours |
| Immediate win condition | Hold Castle continuously for 2.5 hours |
| Time-limit win | Highest total Castle occupation time |
| Main structures | 1 King's Castle + 4 turrets |
| Turret positions | North, East, South, West |
| Standard format | Alliances from the same kingdom |
| KvK format | Kingdom vs kingdom during Kingdom of Power |
| First Castle Battle | Approximately kingdom day 54 |
| King appointment | Winning Alliance Leader has 10 hours to appoint a member |
| Alert Zone | Rebellion starts 2 hours before Castle shield expires |
| Ruin / Relic | Significantly reduces march speed |
| March queues | Account-dependent, not a fixed Castle Battle number |
The current server timeline places the first Castle Battle around kingdom day 54. Later internal Castle Battles are commonly described in current databases as biweekly Saturday events, but the in-game Castle countdown is the final schedule.
The King's Castle and the Win Condition
The King's Castle is the structure that decides the winner.
Turrets matter enormously, but turret occupation does not win the Castle Battle by itself.
There are two occupation clocks.
Continuous occupation
If one alliance holds the King's Castle without interruption for:
2.5\text{ hours}
that alliance wins immediately.
Cumulative occupation
If nobody reaches 2.5 continuous hours during the 5-hour window, all occupation periods are added together.
Example:
| Alliance | Hold 1 | Hold 2 | Hold 3 | Total |
| A | 52 min | 38 min | 29 min | 119 min |
| B | 44 min | 41 min | 20 min | 105 min |
| C | 36 min | 18 min | 12 min | 66 min |
Alliance A wins because its total is highest.
The Two Types of Castle Battle
Standard Castle Battle
This is the internal kingdom version.
The opponents are alliances from the same kingdom.
Its main purposes are:
- Fight for the King's Castle
- Decide the winning alliance
- Establish the King
- Earn battle participation rewards
- Practise Castle and turret warfare
- Prepare the kingdom for later KvK
Kingdom-created rules such as rotation, NAP Castle, training battles or shared turret assignments are diplomatic agreements, not separate official game modes.
Kingdom of Power Castle Battle
This is the cross-kingdom Castle fight inside Kingdom of Power, usually called KvK or SvS.
The two matched kingdoms can cross-server, fight each other and contest the King's Castle during the dedicated Castle window.
Current official KvK Battle Phase
| Phase | Duration | What happens |
| Cross-kingdom battle window 1 | First 2 hours | Governors may cross kingdoms and fight |
| King's Castle battle window | Middle 5 hours | King's Castle can be attacked |
| Cross-kingdom battle window 2 | Last 5 hours | Cross-kingdom fighting continues |
Total:
2+5+5=12\text{ hours}
The official Help Center currently states that the Battle Phase begins at 10:00 UTC on Saturday.
The middle Castle window uses the same current victory logic:
- 5-hour maximum
- 2.5 consecutive hours for an immediate win
- otherwise longest total occupation
Standard vs KvK
| Mechanic | Standard Castle Battle | Kingdom of Power |
| Opponents | Same-kingdom alliances | Two matched kingdoms |
| Castle window | Up to 5 hours | Middle 5 hours of 12-hour Battle Phase |
| Instant Castle win | 2.5 continuous hours | 2.5 continuous hours |
| Turrets | 4 | 4 |
| Cross-server travel | No | Yes |
| Preparation Phase | No KvK prep | Yes |
| Special revival system | No | Yes |
| Auto Rally after crossing | Normal | Official FAQ says unavailable |
| Political result | King | KvK King / High King reign rules may apply |
The Battlefield
The Castle core has five structures:
- King's Castle
- North Turret
- East Turret
- South Turret
- West Turret
The four turrets sit directly around the Castle and influence how expensive it is to keep the Castle occupied.
The Alert Zone
The red area around the Castle is the Alert Zone.
Official rules state that 2 hours before the King's Castle Protection Shield expires, a rebellion occurs in this zone.
If your city is already inside the Alert Zone when that happens, the game can randomly relocate it.
After the rebellion stops, players can teleport into the zone and take battle positions.
Why positioning matters
A closer city means:
- Shorter march time
- Faster reinforcement
- Faster return
- Better rally synchronization
- Less downtime
Competitive alliances should reserve the closest positions for key rally leaders and high-throughput reinforcers.
The Ruin and Relic
The area around the Castle includes a Ruin / Relic effect.
Official Kingshot support states that troops passing the Relic have their Marching Speed significantly reduced.
This matters for synchronized rallies.
Example:
| Captain | Route | March time |
| A | Normal | 18 sec |
| B | Through slow zone | 27 sec |
Starting both rallies at the same time creates a 9-second impact gap.
The correct metric is arrival time, not launch time.
The Four Turrets
Official rules confirm two important turret mechanics:
- If the same alliance controls both a turret and the King's Castle, that turret does not attack its own alliance's Castle force.
- The longer a turret remains continuously occupied, the shorter the interval between turret attacks becomes.
This means enemy-held turrets create increasing pressure on the Castle holder.
Community-tested turret damage
Current 2026 community guides commonly report approximately 2% casualties per enemy turret attack cycle.
That exact percentage is not stated in the short official Castle Battle FAQ, so it should be treated as current community-tested data.
Using the 2% value:
| Enemy turrets | Approx. casualty pressure per simultaneous cycle |
| 0 | 0% |
| 1 | 2% |
| 2 | 4% |
| 3 | 6% |
| 4 | 8% |
Example with 1,000,000 troops:
1{,}000{,}000\times0.02=20{,}000
per turret cycle.
Four enemy turrets around the same cycle represent roughly:
1{,}000{,}000\times0.08=80{,}000
casualty pressure in the simplified community model.
Why Turret Control Matters
Castle and turret held by your alliance
The turret does not attack your Castle.
Castle held by your alliance, turret held by an enemy
The turret attacks your Castle force.
Enemy holds the Castle
Capturing enemy turrets increases pressure on that Castle garrison.
How Many Marches Can You Send?
There is no universal Castle Battle number such as "every player gets exactly 5 or 6 marches."
Your total march queues depend on normal account progression.
Additional queues come from account systems such as:
- Command Tactics
- VIP progression
- Other march-queue unlocks
Castle Battle does not replace your normal queue count with a special fixed number.
However, Castle Battle adds stricter rules for occupying structures.
March Queue vs Structure Occupation
These are different concepts.
March queue
A march queue is one of your available active marches.
Free queues can be used for actions such as:
- Joining an attack rally
- Starting a rally
- Attacking a turret
- Reinforcing
- Holding a reserve march
Structure occupation
Current Castle Battle guides report that one player can occupy one Castle Battle structure at a time.
That means you cannot personally park separate garrison marches in:
- King's Castle
- North Turret
- East Turret
- South Turret
- West Turret
all at the same time.
Your alliance needs different players assigned to different structures.
Example with six march queues
Having six queues does not mean you can personally garrison all five Castle structures simultaneously.
A more realistic use could be:
- March 1: Castle attack rally
- March 2: Second scheduled rally
- March 3: Turret attack
- March 4: Reserve
- March 5: Returning or healing cycle
- March 6: Emergency reinforcement
The exact combination depends on what the interface allows at that moment and whether you are already occupying a structure.
Can You Join Multiple Rallies?
Normal Kingshot rally mechanics allow players with multiple free march queues to participate in multiple rallies.
Current rally documentation specifically describes extra march queues as valuable in rally-heavy activities such as KvK.
But every queue you commit is unavailable until that rally or march state ends.
Current Castle Battle guides also report that a player participating in a rally against the Castle may be restricted from sending an additional individual march until that rally resolves.
Practical rule
Your queue count is account-dependent. Your structure occupation is event-limited.
How Many Players Can Join One Rally?
Current normal Kingshot rally documentation describes:
- 1 Rally Captain
- Up to 14 alliance joiners
The real limit is also controlled by troop capacity.
A rally can fill before all member slots are occupied if large joiners consume the available capacity.
Rally Capacity
Rally capacity is influenced by systems such as:
- Command Center
- Rally Captain deployment capacity
- Rally-capacity bonuses
- Masters
- Pets
- Other applicable account systems
Example:
Total rally capacity:
1{,}200{,}000
Leader march:
150{,}000
Available joiner space:
1{,}200{,}000-150{,}000=1{,}050{,}000
If leadership wants 14 joiners:
\frac{1{,}050{,}000}{14}=75{,}000
A practical troop cap could therefore be approximately 75,000 per joiner.
Direct March vs Rally
Castle structures can be attacked using coordinated rallies, while direct marches can also be useful when the interface and battle state allow them.
Direct march
Advantages
- Fast
- Can finish a weakened defender
- Useful for a short empty occupation window
- Useful for quick turret pressure
Disadvantages
- Uses only your own march strength
- Can die quickly into a strong garrison
- Can create expensive casualties
Rally
Advantages
- Combines troops from many alliance members
- Uses the Rally Captain's combat foundation
- Better against powerful garrisons
- Can be synchronized with other rallies
Disadvantages
- Takes time to assemble
- Gives the defender warning
- Requires coordination
- Can launch underfilled
Rally Timers
Current normal rally timer options include:
- 5 minutes
5-minute rally
Best for:
- Planned major pushes
- Large alliances
- Members who need time to join
Double and Triple Rallies
The goal is not to start several rallies at the same time.
The goal is to make them arrive at the same time.
Example:
| Rally | March time |
| A | 22 sec |
| B | 16 sec |
| C | 11 sec |
To make all three arrive together:
- Rally A leaves first
- Rally B leaves 6 seconds later
- Rally C leaves 11 seconds after Rally A
Competitive groups try to compress the impact window as much as possible.
Current community Castle guides commonly treat 1 to 2 seconds as excellent synchronization and about 5 seconds as an outer limit before the defender gets too much time to react.
Why Multiple Rallies Work
Assume the Castle has:
1{,}000{,}000
defending troops.
Rally 1 removes:
420{,}000
Defenders remaining:
580{,}000
If the defender gets enough time, allies may refill the garrison before the next hit.
If Rally 2 lands almost immediately, it attacks the weakened state instead.
That is the whole point of synchronized multi-rally pressure.
Capturing the Castle
When the defending force is defeated and your alliance takes control:
- Your occupation clock begins or resumes.
- Reinforcement should start immediately.
- The new garrison must be filled.
- Turret ownership should be checked.
- Enemy rallies already moving toward the Castle must be tracked.
One of the most common mistakes is taking the Castle and then leaving it underfilled while everyone celebrates or changes presets.
That is usually when the counter-rally lands.
Garrisoning the Castle
Attacking and defending are different jobs.
An attack formation aims to remove the enemy garrison.
A defensive formation aims to survive repeated rallies and turret pressure.
Current community Castle guides commonly use these baselines:
Attack baseline
50/20/30
- 50% Infantry
- 20% Cavalry
- 30% Archers
Defensive garrison baseline
70/30/0
- 70% Infantry
- 30% Cavalry
- 0% Archers
These are community baselines, not official mandatory formations.
Your actual formation should depend on:
- Current hero generation
- Enemy garrison composition
- Troop tiers
- Hero Gear
- Governor Gear
- Research
- Garrison skill stack
- Available troop stock
Troop Counter Logic
Castle Battle is real PvP.
Unlike Bear Hunt, the target is another player's real troop formation.
That means the counter system matters.
If the enemy garrison becomes extremely Infantry-heavy, Archer value rises.
If you use the same formation against every opponent without checking battle reports, you are giving up information.
Practical rule
Save a baseline formation, then adjust when you have reliable data about the garrison.
Rally Captain vs Rally Joiner
Rally Captain
The Captain provides the most important shared combat foundation.
The full three-hero Expedition lineup matters.
Leader-side combat progression matters.
A weak Rally Captain can waste the strength of every powerful joiner.
Rally Joiner
A joiner mainly contributes:
- Troops
- Troop tier
- Deployment Capacity
- Eligible primary hero skill
- Rally participation
Do not let random players lead simply because they clicked first.
Garrison Reinforcers
A coordinated garrison should decide:
- Who supplies defensive joiner skills
- Who sends troops-only reinforcement
- Who remains outside as a Rally Captain
- Who controls turrets
- Who keeps reserve marches
Sending the biggest available hero without a plan can produce a worse garrison skill package than a coordinated reinforcement stack.
Healing and Troop Losses
Castle Battle uses real troops.
Infirmary management matters.
Official Kingshot Enlistment Office rules state:
- When the Infirmary reaches capacity, excess severely injured troops become dangerous
- The Enlistment Office has four times the capacity of the Infirmary
- It can save 70% of qualifying troops beyond Infirmary capacity
- Offensive combat always creates casualties
- The Enlistment Office does not revive troops that were actually killed in battle
Defensive combat
Official support states that when you are defending, your troops do not die as long as the Infirmary is not full.
Offensive combat
Attackers can suffer casualties even before the Infirmary is full.
Batch Healing
Competitive alliances often heal in small batches.
Instead of starting one huge healing queue:
- Heal a smaller batch
- Request alliance help
- Let helpers reduce the timer
- Repeat
Advantages:
- Faster troop return
- Less speedup waste
- Lower overflow risk
- More continuous battle participation
The ideal batch size depends on:
- Embassy level
- Alliance Help research
- Number of online helpers
- Healing Speed
Castle Battle Points
Current community guides describe the main personal point sources as:
- Occupation activity
- Taking casualties
- Inflicting enemy casualties
The short official Castle Battle FAQ does not publish a complete point formula.
What works
- Join attack rallies
- Reinforce Castle and turrets
- Fight over structures
- Heal and return
- Damage enemy troops
- Keep meaningful garrison power inside structures
What does not work well
Standing next to the Castle without participating.
A lower-power player can still score well through reliable rally joining and turret support.
First Castle Battle
Current server timeline data places the first Castle Battle at approximately:
Kingdom Day 54
The exact date can vary.
Tap the King's Castle on the world map and use the in-game countdown as the final source.
The first battle is normally the kingdom's first real test of:
- Alliance diplomacy
- Rally leadership
- PvP formations
- Healing discipline
- Turret assignments
- Future KvK readiness
How Often Does Standard Castle Battle Happen?
Current 2026 community databases describe Standard Castle Battle as a biweekly Saturday event, roughly every 14 days once the cycle settles.
Older sources show different intervals.
Use the in-game King's Castle countdown as the final schedule.
What Happens After Winning?
The winning alliance gets the right to establish the King.
Official rules state that the winning Alliance Leader has 10 hours to select an alliance member as King.
If no selection is made:
the Alliance Leader becomes King by default.
The King can then:
- Appoint kingdom positions
- Grant position-based bonuses
- Use King Skills
- Exercise the kingdom-level powers provided by the game
Kingdom of Power Preparation Phase
Kingdom of Power adds a Preparation Phase before the cross-kingdom Battle Phase.
Current official rules state:
Preparation Phase: 5 days + 10 hours
The Battle Phase then begins:
Saturday at 10:00 UTC
The Preparation result affects the wider KvK context before Castle fighting begins.
KvK Cross-Server Rules
During the Kingdom of Power Battle Phase, players may move between matched kingdoms.
Current official FAQs confirm:
- Outpost buffs remain active after crossing
- Players can attack same-kingdom players from different alliances after crossing if normal combat rules permit it
- Auto Hunting remains available
- Auto Rally is not available after crossing
This makes manual rally organization especially important during KvK.
KvK Revival
Kingdom of Power has special troop recovery mechanics.
Official support describes the advertised 90% revival path as:
- 30% revived by the system
- 10% revived with Gems
- 50% recovered through Ally Help
Total potential recovery:
30\%+10\%+50\%=90\%
This should not be confused with normal Infirmary and Enlistment Office rules.
KvK King's Reign Edge Case
Current official Kingdom of Power rules include a special political outcome.
If the kingdom that won Preparation fails in its attack on the opponent's King's Castle, King's Reign can produce a multi-King outcome while occupation duration still determines the rightful ruling alliance.
The official FAQ also states that if the attacker fails to occupy the opponent's King's Castle for even one second, the previous King is crowned.
This is a KvK political rule, not a normal Standard Castle Battle rule.
Standard Castle Battle Flow
Before the shield expires
- Clear normal tasks
- Empty the Infirmary
- Prepare healing resources
- Assign Rally Captains
- Assign Castle and turret responsibilities
- Save formations
- Prepare communication
Alert Zone rebellion
- Cities already inside may be randomly relocated
- Wait until the zone reopens before final positioning
Positioning phase
- Put main Rally Captains close to the Castle
- Reserve routes to turrets
- Keep reinforcement paths clear
- Avoid wasting prime spots on inactive players
Opening minute
Possible kingdom strategies include:
- One alliance takes Castle immediately
- Secondary groups take turrets
- Several alliances contest Center
- Controlled training rotation
These are strategic choices, not fixed game rules.
Main battle
The loop is:
- Rally
- Capture
- Reinforce
- Contest turrets
- Heal
- Retake
- Track occupation time
Final phase
If nobody is close to a 2.5-hour continuous win, cumulative occupation becomes decisive.
Do not give away five or ten minutes simply because the instant-win timer is no longer realistic.
Every occupation minute still matters.
Structure Roles
| Structure | Primary purpose |
| King's Castle | Determines the winner through occupation time |
| North Turret | Pressures enemy Castle holder |
| East Turret | Pressures enemy Castle holder |
| South Turret | Pressures enemy Castle holder |
| West Turret | Pressures enemy Castle holder |
There is no special "main turret." All four use the same core concept.
Roles for an Organized Alliance
Main Castle Rally Leader
Usually the strongest suitable offensive account.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the main Castle push
- Coordinate arrival time
- Use the strongest offensive three-hero lineup
- Read enemy battle reports
- Prepare to switch into a defensive role after capture if assigned
Secondary Rally Leaders
Responsibilities:
- Launch synchronized second or third rallies
- Hit turrets
- Prepare counter-rallies
- Keep pressure during cooldowns
Garrison Leader
Responsibilities:
- Anchor the Castle after capture
- Use the defensive setup
- Coordinate reinforcements
- Track turret pressure
Turret Captains
Responsibilities:
- Capture and hold assigned turrets
- Watch turret attack countdowns
- Report enemy rallies
- Call for reinforcement or retreat
Rally Joiners
Responsibilities:
- Use the requested first hero
- Respect troop caps
- Keep free marches for the next push
- Heal quickly
- Follow the assigned rally instead of random attacks
Reserve Players
Responsibilities:
- Emergency reinforcement
- Turret recapture
- Fill a late rally
- Replace wounded or offline players
Can a Smaller Alliance Participate?
Yes.
A smaller alliance may not have the power to hold the King's Castle, but it can still:
- Contest turrets
- Defend a turret
- Earn personal activity points
- Support a larger allied alliance
- Force the Castle holder to split attention
- Practise synchronized rallies
Turret warfare is often the most useful role for a developing alliance.
Common Mistakes
Ignoring the turrets
You may capture the Castle and then bleed under enemy turret pressure.
Sending everyone to Center
The four turrets become free pressure tools for opponents.
Opening too many rallies
Five half-empty rallies can be worse than two or three full synchronized rallies.
Starting rallies at the same time
Equal start time does not mean equal arrival time.
Letting random players lead
The Rally Captain's setup affects the entire rally.
Filling the Infirmary
Hospital overflow creates serious troop-loss problems.
Celebrating after capture
The counter-rally may already be moving.
Confusing Standard Castle and KvK
KvK includes cross-server travel, a 12-hour Battle Phase and special revival and political rules.
