How to score higher every hunt without wasting troops, Gear or money

bear-trap-tricks

This guide skips the basic event explanation.

The real question is: how do you stay near the top consistently?

Most Bear scores are limited by one of four things:

  1. Weak rally hosts
  2. Too few completed rally participations
  3. Bad joiner skills
  4. Poor offensive investment

Fix the bottleneck that is actually holding you back.

1. Stop Looking at Your Biggest Hit

Your event score is the sum of all completed hits.

A useful model is:

S \approx M \times D \times C

where:

  • \(M\) = active marches
  • \(D\) = average damage per hit
  • \(C\) = completed cycles per march

Example:

500M \times 6 = 3.0B

but:

350M \times 10 = 3.5B

The smaller hit wins because it cycles more often.

Rule: optimize total 30-minute throughput, not one screenshot.

2. Your Best Rally Is Often Someone Else's Rally

Official Kingshot combat rules confirm that the rally initiator supplies the nine Expedition skills from their three heroes, while four primary hero skills from rally members are also activated.

That means a strong rally leader brings the important shared combat foundation.

As a joiner, focus on:

  • High-tier troops
  • Correct formation
  • Correct hero in slot 1
  • Fast rejoining
  • Strong hosts

F2P advantage

A strong F2P joiner can score far above their raw account Power by spending most of the event inside whale or top-spender rallies.

Do not waste a march in a weak rally just because it opened first.

3. Save Different Presets for Different Hosts

This is one of the best advanced tricks.

Your best joining formation can change depending on who leads the rally, because the leader supplies the shared stats.

Archer-heavy host

If the leader has:

  • T11 Archers
  • Strong Archer Hero Gear
  • High Archer Lethality
  • Yang, Rosa or another Archer-focused lineup

test:

  • 1 / 10 / 89
  • 5 / 20 / 75

Cavalry-competitive host

If the leader has:

  • T11 Cavalry
  • Strong Cavalry Gear
  • Petra, Thrud or Ava
  • Strong Roman progression

test:

  • 5 / 25 / 70
  • 5 / 30 / 65
  • 5 / 35 / 60

Do not assume one preset is best for every rally leader.

4. More Marches Are Better Only After the Break-Even Point

Suppose you have 600,000 useful troops.

Option A

3 marches of 200,000 troops

Average damage:

180M per hit

Option B

6 marches of 100,000 troops

With equal cycles, six marches win when:

6D_{small} > 3D_{full}

so:

D_{small} > \frac{D_{full}}{2}

If the full march deals 180M, every 100k march only needs to beat:

90M

So:

  • 105M: split wins
  • 95M: split still wins
  • 80M: full marches win

Rule: use the largest number of marches that still keep good troop tiers, a good formation and good hosts.

5. Track Damage per 100k Troops

Use:

E_{100k}= \frac{Damage}{Troops} \times100{,}000

Example:

200k troops dealing 180M:

90M \text{ per 100k}

100k troops dealing 105M:

105M \text{ per 100k}

The smaller march is more troop-efficient.

This is one of the easiest ways to see whether splitting is actually helping.

6. Slot 1 Can Matter More Than Extra Troops

The rally only activates four primary member skills.

A bad slot-1 hero can occupy one of those four slots and lower the value of the whole rally.

Strong reliable joiners include:

HeroMain joiner value
ChenkoSquad Lethality
YeonwooSquad Lethality
AmadeusSquad Lethality
AmaneSquad Attack
MargotSquad Attack
VivianEnemy Damage Taken
AvaEnemy Defense reduction
Wee & WooAttack + Lethality

F2P secret

A maxed Chenko, Yeonwoo or Amane can be more useful as a joiner than a poorly developed Legendary hero.

Choose by first Expedition skill, not rarity or Power.

If you have no useful slot-1 hero left, a troops-only march can be safer if your alliance allows it.

7. The Closest Pitfall Spots Are Free Damage

Travel time is dead time.

If a full rally cycle drops from 180 seconds to 150 seconds:

\left\lfloor\frac{1800}{180}\right\rfloor=10

versus:

\left\lfloor\frac{1800}{150}\right\rfloor=12

That can mean two extra cycles per march.

Closest positions should go to:

  1. Main rally leaders
  2. Players with many active marches
  3. Very active joiners

Not simply the players with the highest Power.

F2P Route

8. Max Cheap Joiner Skills First

For F2P, Chenko, Yeonwoo and Amane are extremely efficient.

Their personal combat stats eventually age, but their first Expedition skills remain useful.

Prioritize the skill that the rally actually uses.

9. March Capacity Can Beat Fancy Gear

If you mostly join rallies, extra march capacity often gives more immediate Bear value than expensive Hero Gear.

Useful progression:

  • Command Center
  • Regimental Expansion research
  • Higher troop tiers
  • Enough troop stock for several marches

Higher-tier troops have better base stats and benefit more from a strong rally leader.

Once troop unlocks slow around T7/T8 and above, promoting old lower-tier troops becomes increasingly important.

10. Valora Is a F2P Snowball

Valora is the dedicated Bear Master.

Hunter Instinct

Up to:

+30% personal Bear Hunt Damage Points

Savage Advantage

Up to:

+30,000 Bear Hunt Squad Capacity

With five active marches:

5 \times 30{,}000 = 150{,}000

extra simultaneous troop capacity, if you can fill it.

Weapon Obsession

Up to:

+5 extra Forgehammers per Bear Hunt

At roughly 15 hunts in 30 days:

15 \times 5 = 75

extra Forgehammers per month.

F2P priority

  1. Hunter Instinct
  2. Savage Advantage
  3. Weapon Obsession
  4. Leader By Example
  5. Dance of the Hunt only if you regularly host

11. Do Not Build Bear Gear to Fix Joiner Damage

If you are joining another player's rally, your Hero Gear is not the shared Gear source.

A joiner should first improve:

  • Troop tier
  • March capacity
  • Slot-1 skills
  • Rally selection
  • Completed cycles

Build Hero Gear for overall account progression and for the day you become a serious host.

P2P / Main Rally Leader Route

12. Build One Premium Bear Lineup

Do not spread resources equally across ten heroes.

A main Bear host should concentrate:

  • Hero Gear
  • Mastery Forging
  • Exclusive Gear / Widgets
  • Best three-hero lineup
  • Rally capacity
  • Bear-specific Master progression

Your account stats help every joiner inside your rally.

13. Bear-Specific Hero Gear Is Different from PvP Gear

Generic PvP Gear advice often values Infantry Health because the frontline must survive.

Bear Hunt is a pure damage problem.

For a Bear-focused host, prioritize the pieces that provide Lethality:

Archer

  1. Helmet
  2. Boots

Cavalry

  1. Helmet
  2. Boots

Helmet and Boots are the Lethality pieces. Gloves and the defensive body piece mainly provide troop Health before later Red milestones.

Archer first when

  • Archers dominate the tested formation
  • T11 Archers are ahead
  • Yang or Rosa is central to the host lineup
  • Pan progression is advanced

Cavalry deserves more investment when

  • You use 25% to 35% Cavalry
  • T11 Cavalry unlocked first
  • Petra, Thrud or Ava is highly developed
  • Roman progression is strong
  • Cavalry Lethality is far behind Archer Lethality

Do not run 30% Cavalry with neglected Cavalry Gear.

14. Do Not Spread Mastery

For a Bear host:

  • Push the important offensive pieces first
  • Hit useful Mastery breakpoints
  • Avoid deep Mastery on reserve heroes
  • Take efficient Red offensive milestones

Also remember that Mastery Reforge does not return every Forgehammer spent.

Plan before pushing deep.

15. P2P Valora Priority Is Different

A primary host gains huge value from Dance of the Hunt:

+300,000 Raging Bear Rally Capacity

With a 60,000 joiner cap:

\frac{300{,}000}{60{,}000}=5

That is capacity equivalent to five extra capped joiners.

Main-host Valora priority

  1. Dance of the Hunt
  2. Hunter Instinct
  3. Savage Advantage
  4. Weapon Obsession
  5. Leader By Example

Cassia becomes more valuable for a real host because she adds personal squad size, rally capacity and offensive combat stats through her normal progression.

Pet Tricks

Several active Pet skills can directly help Bear performance.

PetBear value
Mighty Bison+15,000 Squad Capacity
Black Panther+10% Troop Lethality
Giant Rhino+10% All Squad Attack
Moose, Rally Capacity variant+150,000 Rally Capacity

Joiner

Prioritize offensive stats and personal capacity.

Rally leader

Rally capacity becomes much more valuable because every extra space can hold another joiner march.

Do not activate defensive Pet skills just because they increase displayed Power.

Formation Trick: 1/10/89 Is Not a Law

1 / 10 / 89 is a strong Archer-heavy late-game baseline.

It is not automatically correct for every account.

A practical Gen 4+ test set is:

Account profileTest
Very Archer-heavy1/10/89
Strong Archers, decent Cavalry5/20/75
Competitive Cavalry5/30/65
Strong T11 Cavalry / Thrud / Ava5/35/60

The best ratio changes with:

  • Rally leader stats
  • Hero Gear
  • Mastery
  • T11 unlock order
  • Pan vs Roman progression
  • Hero lineup

Community testing also often uses about 5,000 Infantry as an absolute floor.

That means 1% is not always enough.

At 200,000 troops:

1\%=2{,}000

At 500,000 troops:

1\%=5{,}000

Test absolute troop counts, not only percentages.

Alliance Tricks That Create Free Score

16. Max the Pitfall Before Starting

Do not start with a weaker Pitfall just because everyone is online.

An alliance-wide Attack bonus affects every rally.

17. Stagger the Rally Leaders

Do not launch every rally simultaneously.

Use groups separated by roughly 60 to 90 seconds.

This gives returning marches somewhere useful to go instead of forcing everyone to wait for the same cycle.

18. Kick Wrong Slot-1 Heroes from Premium Rallies

One bad primary skill can lower the value of a full rally.

Explain why the player was removed.

The next hunt will be cleaner.

19. Use Troop Caps When Rallies Fill Too Fast

If a rally has 1,000,000 available joiner capacity and you want 20 members:

\frac{1{,}000{,}000}{20}=50{,}000

A 50k cap:

  • Keeps space for skill carriers
  • Lets more members participate
  • Stops one whale from consuming the rally
  • Makes filling more predictable

Raise or remove the cap if attendance is low.

20. Final Minutes: Completed Damage Beats Perfect Damage

If your best rally will not leave in time, join the next strong rally that will.

A weaker completed hit is better than a perfect march sitting in your city when the timer ends.

Hidden Rule: Do Not Leave the Alliance

Official Kingshot support states that Bear Hunt ranking points are cleared when you leave the alliance.

Even if you rejoin the same alliance during the season, the points are not restored.

If you care about your Bear ranking progress, do not casually leave after participating.

5-Minute Pre-Bear Routine

  1. Move close to the Pitfall.
  2. Check the Pitfall level.
  3. Activate the correct Pet skills.
  4. Load host-specific presets.
  5. Confirm slot-1 heroes.
  6. Identify the strongest rally leaders.
  7. Recall gathering marches.
  8. Check troop counts.
  9. Keep a troops-only preset.
  10. Be ready before activation.

Final Rule

To stay near the top, track only four numbers:

  • Average damage per hit
  • Damage per 100k troops
  • Completed rally participations
  • Final personal score

Then change one thing before the next Bear Hunt.

The best Bear players are not always the players with the most Power.

They are the players who waste the least time, join the strongest rallies, protect the four active member skills and invest in the system that is actually limiting their score.
